Signal failure adds to Nottingham – London train problems this morning with cancellations in place

A fallen tree which caused delays earlier today has been removed, but a signal failure is causing cancellations to the service.

East Midlands Railways said:

‘There was a tree blocking the railway at Kibworth.

‘The tree has now been removed, however, a signalling fault has now occurred in the Market Harborough area which is causing additional disruption.

‘Trains on our Intercity route will experience extended delays and some cancellations.

‘We will be reducing on timetable between Nottingham / Sheffield and London St Pancras as our trains will need to use a diversionary route.

‘The following trains will be cancelled at each hour:
XX:32 London St Pancras to Sheffield
XX:00 Sheffield to London St Pancras
XX:34 London St Pancras to Nottingham
XX:50 Nottingham to London St Pancras.

‘Please check your journey before you travel, you can find a journey planner here: https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

‘As soon as the signalling fault has been resolved, our priority will be to resume our normal timetable.’

‘Your journey may be delayed by 90 minutes. We are sorry for the delay to your journey today.’
