Officers descended on the scene after being made aware of the incident and arrested six men.

Police have arrested six people and warned further arrests are likely to follow as an investigation progresses into reports of a number of people fighting with weapons.

A group of people were reported to be involved in the disturbance, including one with a metal pole and others with belts, in Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham city centre, at around 3.20am on Sunday (3 October).

Officers descended on the scene after being made aware of the incident and arrested six men – two aged 23, two aged 21, a 22-year-old and a 17-year-old – on suspicion of affray, and dispersed onlookers as the incident was quickly dealt with.

Police also recovered a number of discarded weapons in the area.

Chief Inspector Mark Stanley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances of the incident and while we have made six arrests so far, detectives are working to identify further individuals who may have been involved.

“We will be reviewing extensive CCTV footage in the city centre and speaking to witnesses and anyone who we suspect of engaging in violence in our city can expect to be dealt with robustly.

“We are committed to ensuring people can visit and enjoy a safe night out in Nottinghamshire and will have no hesitation in putting people before the courts if they are violent.

“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has video footage of what happened, is urged to get in touch as soon as possible to help us identify those involved and deal with them for their actions. Please call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 133 of 3 October 2021.”
