Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said:
‘We are at the scene of a fire at a car garage in Lowdham Road, Gunthorpe.
‘Incident was reported to us at 4.37am and we have six fire engines at the scene.
‘Currently tackling the fire using hose reels and breathing apparatus.
In an update at 6:17 am the service added:
‘The fire is in a building next to the garage.
‘Roof has been lost but fire under control.
‘A6097 is closed between Main Street, Gunthorpe & Lowdham Island and likely to be for several hours.
‘We’ll investigate the cause later today.’
AA Roadwatch reports:
‘Road closed due to fire department activity on A6097 both ways from Main Street to Lowdham Village turn off.
‘The road has been closed since around 05:00 Saturday morning following a fire at a garage along the stretch.’
