Skateboard competition ‘Nottingjam’ on this weekend at Flo Skatepark

Skateboarders from throughout the UK will be gathering to compete in Nottingham.

A two-day Street and Park Skateboard competition on the 25 and 26 November with a £4,000 prize fund! Flo is one of Skateboard Great Britain’s five development ‘hubs’, thus the chance to host some of the country’s best talent and Olympic hopefuls, testing their skills and coming together to share and celebrate the sport.

The competition consists of separate Street Open (25th Nov) and Park Open (26th Nov) disciplines, split between each day.

There is also an Under 16s division (26th Nov), to inspire the younger generation to come together and have an introduction to the world of skateboarding competition.

The Open competitions are sure to be exciting, drawing competitors such as Team GB skateboarder and National Street Champion Joe Hinson who will use the ‘Nottingjam’ as his springboard into the World Championships & Olympic Qualifier in Tokyo.

The Park Open will show off the brand-new £5,000 extension of the iconic Flo bowl, so there are bound to be bigger tricks done than ever before! This new extension was provided through an exciting opportunity with Skateboard GB’s recent sponsorship from Samsung UK.

The competition will allow the thousands of people who have learned to skate at Flo’s beginner’s lessons for ages 5-17 years and adults to see the heights of progression in skateboarding.

Locals who participate in Flo’s all abilities sessions, and dedicated women, girls and marginalised gender sessions will also compete, representing the diverse, supportive and extremely talented scene here in the city.  The last competition in 2022 drew over eighty competitors from all over the UK and was a resounding success.

Spectators are welcome, with a donation tin available on the door.

Local skater-owned catering business Yums will be providing on-site food and drinks throughout the day.  Sponsors for the competition include Samsung UK and local skate shop Forty Two.  Flo always thanks our landlord, Blueprint Regeneration for their continuing support.
