Sock full of cocaine wraps found during car stop

A man has appeared in court in Nottingham after wraps of cocaine were found in a sock following a car stop.

Officers from the knife crime team pulled the vehicle over in Meadow Lane, Chilwell, after it aroused their suspicions while on patrol around 11am on 7 April.

The deals of Class A drugs were discovered in a sock within the car.

When further investigations led officers to search a property in Derby Road, Nottingham, they found further significant quantities of Class A drugs and large amounts of cash.

A 22-year-old man, of no fixed abode, has been charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs, possession of criminal property and driving without insurance.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 8 April and was remanded in custody to attend Nottingham Crown Court on 29 April 2026.

Police Constable Daniel Cresswell, of the knife crime team, said:

“Significant amounts of drugs and suspected criminal property have been seized following this car stop.

“As a proactive team out on patrol we are in a great position to pull over vehicles we suspect may be using the county’s road network for criminality.”
