Special constables support city police teams in Nottingham

Last Friday (19 December), special constables were out in force supporting Operation Listing in Nottingham city centre.

On one of the busiest weekends of the year, Nottinghamshire Police special constables worked alongside full-time officers to keep people safe, engaging with the public, responding to incidents, and carrying out high-visibility reassurance patrols.

The team dealt with a range of incidents, including missing persons reports, public order issues, first aid, and supporting vulnerable members of the community.

Special Inspector Kenny Foley said: “The response from the public has been really positive. People told us they felt safer, which is exactly what we aim for.

“We’re proud to support our regular colleagues and will continue to do so.”

Special Sergeant Wayne Cliff added: “It’s important that everyone feels safe and enjoys the Christmas festivities.

“As volunteers, we give up time with our families to help make that happen and the feedback from the public really shows we’re making a difference.”

“We want everyone to enjoy the vibrant Christmas activities in and around the city centre.
“But for those who cause antisocial behaviour or commit crime, we will continue to take robust enforcement action to ensure the festivities aren’t disrupted.”
