The Bassetlaw Neighbourhood Team are cracking down on speeding drivers.
A team of special officers and police community support officers held a day of action on Wednesday (15 July 2020) where they checked a total of 417 vehicles.
It resulted in 20 drivers being issued with Traffic Offence Reports for excessive speed in a 30mph zone and included a HGV lorry.
A further 35 drivers were given advice.
The team are planning more action to address speeding in the area.
Neighbourhood Inspector Neil Bellamy said: “We’re really wanting to crack down on issues of speeding in the area and plan to hold more events like this on a regular basis.
“My team worked really hard in planning and resourcing the operation not to mention their dedication in checking so many vehicles on the day.
“Speed limits are there for a reason, to prevent serious injury or death in key areas so those who ignore the restrictions are putting themselves and others at risk.
“It can also cause such a nuisance to our residents so we want drivers to know we are taking it seriously and we will take action against those who break the law.”
