Last Saturday night, the West Bridgford Liberty Singers, the Liberty Belles and the Liberty Blues Brothers came together to create an evening of song, connection and happiness.
The programme of music was varied and eclectic, spanning everything from The Carpenters to Coldplay, Metallica to The Cranberries, and Dolly Parton to Lily Allen.
Kari Olsen-Porthouse (Choir Director) would like to extend her heartfelt thanks to everyone who sang, those wonderful people who dealt with refreshments, as well as everyone who supported the event from the audience.
Special thanks go to the team at Lutterell Hall, the Baptist Church, Beehive Hair Design, Rich and Ketch, the sound engineers, Kayleigh Collington for photography, and West Bridgford Infant School for the use of their stage.
Vikki Jones, Community Fundraising Lead for Zephyr’s, and a singer with the choir, spoke at the event, saying:
“It costs around £100,000 a year to provide these services, and we receive no NHS or statutory funding. Everything we do is made possible because people in our community choose to stand alongside us.
“Thank you to Kari and the Liberty Singers for supporting our cause, and to everyone who donated when buying their tickets. Your support genuinely changes — and saves — lives. It means parents don’t have to face grief alone.
“It means siblings get gentle, age-appropriate support. It means families can find hope again.”
