High street businesses in Worksop, Retford and Tuxford have been getting support from Bassetlaw District Council to make upgrades to their shop fronts and improve accessibility.
A slice of Local Government Partnership funding has been used to help independent businesses make improvements to their premises as part of work to encourage investment and create opportunities.
Among those benefitting, KSR accountants in Tuxford who has used its grant of over £9k to upgrade its windows and doors, introduce new signage and paint the shop front.
Kim Robinson, Head Accountant at KSR said: “Thanks to the Shop Front Grant, we’ve got a brand-new shop window that’s completely transformed the look of the office.
“It’s given the place a fresh, modern feel and really makes it stand out, it’s a great boost for both our premises and the street.”
Forty business in the 3 areas have been awarded the funding, which has now closed, of upto £20k each. To be eligible they needed to provide a viable business growth plan leading to the creation of jobs, improve how the area looks and increase footfall.
Cllr Charles Adams, Cabinet Member for Business and Skills said: “It is good to see businesses benefitting from this Shop Front Grant and the improvements they have been able to make.
“This funding is supporting work aiming to improve our towns, encourage new investment and create opportunities as we look to make Bassetlaw a better place to live, work and do business.”
The Council continues to support high street businesses, with UK Shared Prosperity Funding opportunities including, Shop Fit Out Grants for new businesses opening a vacant unit, High Street and Growth Grants, along with free workshops and other support.
