Suspect charged with drug offences and assaulting a police officer

A man has been charged with drug offences and assaulting a police officer after a warrant was carried out at a home in Sawley, near Long Eaton.

Officers carried out the warrant at Peveril Crescent on 7 October, where they found what is suspected to be cannabis.

Jan Luca Khan, of Peveril Crescent, was subsequently charged with the following drug offences:

Being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine
Being concerned in the supply of cocaine
Being concerned in the supply of heroin
Being concerned in the supply of cannabis
Possession of cannabis

The 24-year-old was also charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm of a police officer, who suffered a broken finger during an incident in Derby Road, Draycott, on 12 July 2024.

After being charged, he appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on 8 October, where he was remanded to prison to appear at court at a later date.
