Suspect in court after firearm threat in Nottingham shop robbery

A suspect has been charged and remanded over an alleged robbery at a Nottingham shop.

Officers were called to a shop in Wollaton Street, Nottingham, after reports a man had entered at around 5pm yesterday (Thursday 14 April 2022) and allegedly threatened a member of staff before leaving with cash.

Police were called and after searching the area a man was arrested nearby, on Upper Parliament Street, at around 5:35pm.

No-one was hurt during the incident.

Paul McDonald, aged 48, of no fixed address, is charged with robbery and having an imitation firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (Saturday 16 April 2022).

Detective Constable Marc Prangnell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Robbery is an incredibly serious offence which can have a lasting impact on its victims. The force takes these types of offences seriously and will always strive to put suspects before the courts.”
