Suspected teenage burglars arrested after residents report loud noises from property

Police response officers made a double arrest within minutes of a burglary report being received.
Police were alerted after loud banging was heard coming from a property on Gregory Boulevard, Hyson Green.

Believing a break-in could be taking place at the address, officers rushed to the area just before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday (19 January).

The property’s doors were found to be damaged, while a moped parked outside in the back garden was also missing a battery.

Police then conducted a search of the area, at which point they located multiple suspects outside a property a couple of doors down.

One of them had a battery similar to the one taken from the moped in their possession, while another had a pair of pliers and a brick.

Believing they could be involved in the incident down the road, the duo – two boys aged 14 and 16 – were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary, theft, and criminal damage.
The 16-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of going equipped for the theft of a motor vehicle.

Sergeant Lee Wilson, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Thanks to the officers involved in this incident, we were able to provide a police response within minutes of this call being received.

“After arriving at the scene, the officers conducted a quick search of the nearby area, which ultimately led to two suspects being identified and arrested for a series of alleged offences.

“Burglary is an incredibly serious offence, so as a force, we will always look to do whatever we can to respond quickly to reports of a break-in and take positive action.”
