Sutton Bonington and Kingston on Soar Open Gardens Weekend

The 42nd Annual Sutton Bonington and Kingston-on-Soar Open Gardens Weekend takes place in June in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The year’s event, taking place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June from 2 pm to 4 pm, promises to be as exciting as ever with some fantastic new additions. Highlights include the beautiful Sutton Bonington Hall (Sunday only), the charming Park Lane Allotments and an enchanting Fairy Glen.

Explore more than 32 gardens,  refreshment stops, and browse various stalls throughout the event.  Cream teas and a selection of home-baked treats from the villages’ renowned Star Bakers are there too.

The plant stall at Sutton Bonington Village Hall offers a variety of botanical treasures.

This year, you can also meet the local beekeeper known as “the Hairy Beekeeper”, offering honey, cosmetics, and beeswax items, and, answering all your bee-related queries.

Over the past 41 years, visitors to the Open Gardens event have raised over £250,000 for Cancer Research UK, supporting their mission to create a world where everyone lives longer, healthier lives, free from the fear of cancer.

“Reflecting on the 40th anniversary of the Open Garden Event in 2022, Nicole added, “The event was spectacular, showcasing breath taking gardens and a heart-warming atmosphere of community and generosity.

“This celebration of nature and philanthropy exemplifies the profound impact of coming together for the greater good.”

Programmes for the Open Garden Weekend, including a village map, will be available for purchase from early June at Your Community Shop & Post Office and Pasture Lane Stores in Sutton Bonington. Additionally, programmes are available in the villages on the weekend of the event and in all participating gardens allowing you to begin the trail at any point.

Admission is £6 per adult, covering both days, while accompanied children attend free. All proceeds, profits and donations to Cancer Research UK.
