Sutton: Roads closed as emergency services attend gas leak

Emergency services close road after gas leak.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said:

‘We have both appliances from Ashfield Fire Station, one from Mansfield and one from Edwinstowe at an incident on Stoneyford Road, Sutton in Ashfield.

‘Due to the wind, residents on Fisher Close are experiencing a strong smell of gas.

‘We advise for all local residents to keep their doors and windows closed during this time.

‘We are working on scene with partner agencies to resolve this incident, and supporting Nottinghamshire Police with evacuations.

‘We will also support Cadent Gas once they arrive on scene.’

Nottinghamshire Police said:

‘We are currently supporting our colleagues at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service after a gas leak in Stoneyford Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield.

‘A cordon has been put in place and some homes have been evacuated.

‘Road closures are in place around Fisher Close and people are advised to avoid the area.’
