Teenage girl allegedly pushed to ground and sexually assaulted in Nottingham

A suspect is due to appear in court after a woman was sexually assaulted.

The 19-year-old victim was pushed to the ground and assaulted near Huntingdon Street, Nottingham city centre, at around 2.30am on Sunday (15 May) morning.

Alex Cartledge, aged 23, of London Road, Nottingham, has been charged with sexual assault and remanded into custody.

He is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court later today (Tuesday 17 May).

Detective Sergeant Lisa Jones, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim. Officers located a suspect quickly after the incident and have worked tirelessly to investigate what happened.

“Our investigation continues and we would still like to hear from any witnesses who were in the area at the time – particularly a man who we believe helped victim in the immediate aftermath of the attack.”
