A youth has appeared in court charged with 15 separate offences after a determined case was put together by police.
Officers were called to Bridgnorth Drive, Clifton, after reports a moped, car keys and a wallet had been taken during a walk-in burglary on 11 August 2022.
Eagle-eyed patrol officers spotted the moped being ridden along Farnborough Road later the same day and Green Road the following day.
They were able to identify a 17-year-old suspect who was later arrested.
The youth has been charged with two counts of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, two charges of driving without due care and attention, two charges of driving without a licence, two charges of driving without insurance, two charges of driving without protective headgear and one charge of failing to stop when required by an officer.
He has also been charged with assault of an emergency worker, driving a vehicle dangerously, using a motor vehicle without third party insurance and driving without a licence, all on 21 February 2022.
A 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared before Nottingham Youth Court on Wednesday 17 August and was granted conditional bail until 26 October.
Inspector Karl Thomas, neighbourhood policing inspector for city south, said: “This was a painstaking piece of police work and I’d like to thank the response, CID and neighbourhood officers who helped to put this suspect before the courts.
“Nottinghamshire Police treat these types of incidents extremely seriously and our officers will continue to work tirelessly to ensure offenders are brought before the courts.”
