Detectives have charged a 19-year-old Nottinghamshire man with rape.
Police were called to an incident that happened just after midnight on Saturday, October 22, near Portland Street in Newark.
A woman in her 40s was walking along the street when she was subjected to a serious sexual assault.
A 19-year man has been charged with two rape offences and assault and remanded in custody.
Detective Inspector Stu Barson, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We would really like to thank the public for their help.
“This was an extensive investigation by our officers.”
