Nottinghamshire Police arrested two teenage boys after a rapid response to reports of attempted car break-ins at a hotel car park in Nottingham.
The incident occurred around 1:45 am on Monday, 30 December, at Millennium Way West.
Officers arrived on the scene shortly after the alert and spotted two individuals loitering in the car park. Upon seeing the police, the suspects attempted to flee in different directions but were quickly chased down and detained by response officers.
During searches, police recovered cash, several pairs of sunglasses, and a mobile phone, which had been stolen from two cars parked nearby. The stolen items were returned to their rightful owners.
The suspects, aged 14 and 16, were both arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.
Sergeant Cai Kemish of Nottinghamshire Police said:
“Thanks to our officers responding to this report so quickly and being as alert as they were, we were able to detain a pair of suspects. A range of different items reportedly stolen from vehicles parked nearby were also all recovered and returned to their rightful owners.
“We understand how upsetting it must be for someone to return to their car to find it has been broken into, so hope this incident shows how seriously we take reports of this nature. The speed with which we responded was entirely reliant on this being reported to us though, so we’d also ask people to call us on 101 should they spot a potential crime in progress.”
