Teenagers caught after attempted shop burglary

Four teenagers have been questioned after police responded to reports of an attempted shop burglary.

It was reported that a group of suspects had entered a store in Abbey Street, Lenton, and demanded items at around 3.45pm yesterday (Thursday 14 April 2022).

Officers were on scene within minutes and quickly detained two suspects. Soon after, colleagues caught two more suspects after a brief foot chase.

Four boys, aged 13, 14, 14 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary as enquiries continue into the incident.

Sergeant James Rimmington, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Burglary is an upsetting crime, especially when victims come face-to-face with alleged offenders. When incidents like this happen we will always act swiftly and work hard to find those responsible.

“I hope the speed of these arrests provides some reassurance to the local community and demonstrates how seriously we treat reports of burglary which can have a long-lasting impact on victims. We will always do everything we can to investigate, pursue and catch suspects, and keep the public safe from harm.”

Anyone with any information about the incident, or who may have recorded CCTV, mobile phone or dash-cam footage, is urged to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 463 of 14 April 2022, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
