Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a set of temporary traffic lights and two pedestrian crossing lights were stolen from a road outside a school.
Inquiries are ongoing into the theft of the lights, which were taken from Toton Lane, outside Fairfield Spencer Academy, around 11.45 pm on Saturday 27 April 2024.
The temporary traffic lights had been installed while roadworks were carried out.
PCSO Christopher Jones, who is investigating the incident, said:
“This theft meant that the flow of traffic was impeded with a set of lights missing which could have caused a serious accident on a dangerous bend during a lane closure.
“The incident would also have caused motorists a great deal of anxiety and distress.
“We believe the lights would have been loaded into a van or a flatbed lorry, due to their size and height.
“As part of our ongoing inquiries, which include checking CCTV and doorbell camera footage, we are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with any information or dashcam footage of suspicious activity in the area to please get in touch with us.”
New temporary lights were put in place following the theft.
Anyone who has any information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 189 of 28 April 2024, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
