Tesla supercharging station with free parking at Victoria Centre

Nottingham’s Victoria Centre has announced the introduction of Tesla supercharging technology, following the installation of 12 high-speed chargers in its Basement car park.

Tesla’s in-car navigation will direct drivers to the Tesla Supercharging station, located in the Green Zone, where customers simply park up, plug-in and monitor its progress via the Tesla phone app.

This latest installation takes the centre’s electric vehicle charging point services to 44, thanks to its existing EV charging point facilities located on both the top level of the multi-story carpark, and in the basement carpark, in the green zone.

The 32 existing charging points can all be operated by non-Tesla manufactured cars.

Commenting on the carpark’s latest investment, Nigel Wheatley, centre director at Victoria Centre, said:

“Tesla is leading the transition to sustainable energy and electric vehicles around the world, and we’re delighted to play a small part in supporting this change.

“Compatible with all Tesla vehicles, the Tesla Supercharger network is the largest high-powered EV charging network in the UK, and we’re joining over 100 other locations to make up more than 900 charging stalls across the country.

“With no need to pre-book or reserve a space, Tesla drivers looking to visit the centre can park up and charge when required. We’re thrilled to add the Tesla Superchargers to our already generous number of EV Charging points across both the multi-storey and basement car parks, helping to do our bit for the country’s wider sustainability efforts.”

Nigel added:

“We’re always on the look-out for ways we can improve our customer experience, as well as seeking out sustainable solutions to ensure a greener future for the city. This partnership is an exciting step for us and we hope our Tesla-driving customers enjoy the freedom it offers.”

Newly launched this week, with proof of vehicle ownership, Tesla drivers will be able to obtain up to two hours free parking in Victoria Centre’s basement car park while they charge. Drivers can enter via the Glasshouse Street entrance for quick and easy access.

Once registered, either online or at the Centre Management Office (located near Clocktower dining), Tesla drivers will be able to obtain up to two hours free parking when using the charging points.
