The Cornerhouse teams up with Nottingham school’s food bank in ‘Robin Hood gives back’

Nottingham’s leisure and entertainment complex, The Cornerhouse, is teaming up with Old Basford Primary School’s very own food bank to encourage us all to give generously this winter.

The team at The Cornerhouse will be organising a special event, named ‘Robin Hood Gives Back’, taking inspiration from the Nottingham legend and to mark the release of the new ‘Robin Hood’ film.

The event will take place in the drum at The Cornerhouse on Saturday 24th November between 1 pm and 5 pm.

This gives everyone the chance to drop off non-perishable food and other essential items, which will then be donated to the Old Basford Primary School’s food bank in time for the Christmas period.

With every donation made towards the food bank, The Cornerhouse will exchange it for a free ticket for a movie of their choice, at Cineworld Nottingham.

Recommended donations include canned foods, pasta, rice, selection boxes, biscuits, flour, sugar, tea bags, coffee and crisps. As well as food, you can also donate toiletries such as toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, shower gel and sanitary products.

Speaking ahead of the event, Charlie Truman, centre executive at The Cornerhouse, said:

“With the release of the new ‘Robin Hood’ film, we were inspired to follow in his footsteps and ‘give back’ to our community. No matter how small, every donation will make a difference. We are aiming to fill 100 shopping bags for the school and if we could fill more, that would be amazing.

“Many families struggle to provide food during the school holidays, and research has shown that the festive season is an especially hard time. But, we hope that the generous donations from the people of Nottingham can help to make a difference to many families this winter.”
