The Fruit Basket Direct – West Bridgford business launches online home deliveries

As well as the home delivery service, there is also the option to ‘click & collect’ from the shop on Gordon Road.

West Bridgford’s family-owned The Fruit Basket has been a focal point in West Bridgford for over 30 years, supplying customers with fresh fruit and veg, wholefoods and local produce alongside a small free home delivery service to the local community.

Before COVID-19, the wholesale side of the business, The Fruit Basket Direct, was also supplying many of the region’s best restaurants, pubs and cafes.

Realising that people were struggling to get a supermarket delivery slot, The Fruit Basket extended their home delivery service and delivery area bringing their restaurant-quality produce direct to homes throughout Nottinghamshire.

One of the owners Jonathan Hyman said: ‘We hope that we can help keep people safe, stocked up and eating fresh, healthy produce now and in the future’.

The Fruit Basket Direct is now delivering across Nottingham Mon-Sat & working to 48 hours’ notice for orders.

In order to be able to do this, they have gone digital and launched a brand new website where customers can order whatever they like and choose the day it is delivered.

Uniquely for a fresh food delivery company, they are not charging for delivery nor do they impose a minimum order quantity.

‘Our business has had to adapt quickly, establish considerable changes to working practises and make some big decisions in order to be able to stay open and keep serving the community.’ said Jonathan.

‘There’s no doubt that the last few months have been very challenging for all of us, however, we are now settling into our new way of working and have developed a strong system for our dedicated team to be able to work safely, select great quality produce and deliver it directly to our customers’ homes in a responsible manner.’

The new online shop showcases some of the best local & seasonal produce available & is updated daily.

There are strawberries and raspberries from Southwell, locally grown asparagus, cheese from the local creameries, bread from local bakers and even Edwalton honey.

‘We have always worked with small, local farmers, producers and growers and will continue to support them through this period. The great thing about our service is that you don’t just have a veg box where we choose the items, you can just choose what you want & get it delivered to your door!’

As well as the home delivery service, there is also the option to ‘click & collect’ from the shop on Gordon Road if you are returning to work and will no longer be at home to receive deliveries.

The shop has remained open throughout Lockdown, putting social distancing measures in place from the start with the staff working hard to supply customers when the supermarkets had run out of everything! The shop on Gordon Road is open from 9am-4pm Mon-Sat with a wide range of fresh fruit, veg, dairy, bread & wholefoods in stock.
