There is currently a delay of over 1.5 hours and 6 miles of congestion.
A diversion route is available (follow the route marked with solid diamond symbol on local road signs):
- Exit the M1 at J23 and turn left on to the A512 westbound
- Continue on the A512 westbound to J13 of the M42/A42
- Take the fifth exit from the junction roundabout on to the A42 northbound
- Remain on the A42 northbound and merge on to the M1 northbound at J23a
