Mansfield District Council and Mansfield BID would like to thank the thousands of people who attended Mansfield Party in the Market on Sunday (2 June).
On Sunday more than 5,000 visitors from across the district came to the Market Place to enjoy a jam-packed day of entertainment and live music, including an hour slot showcasing local talent.
The event was funded jointly by Mansfield BID and Mansfield District Council and hosted by Mansfield 103.2 presenters Ian Watkins and John B Tannen along with friends from local entertainments company CANVAS.
The day began at 1pm with an opening performance from the well-loved, local busker Wes Dolan followed by Warren Ireland, Everything Acoustic. Heidi Fletcher-finished brought the first section to a close with stunning vocals.
Next up was a series of tribute bands belting out hit after popular hit, and keeping the crowds entertained until around 6pm.
The line up included Tom Morrison as George Ezra; Kayle Malone as Taylor Swift; and local rock legends – Brotherhood. Rule the World closed the show with a timely tribute to Take That, days after their performance in Nottingham. Sandwiched in the middle of the schedule was a special crowd karaoke segment by World Karaoke Champion Ellie Butler supported by our very own Jono Edwards, owner of CANVAS.
Adam Hill, CEO of Mansfield District Council, said “Events such as this demonstrate that when Mansfield district comes together, we can achieve great things and make a day for all to remember.
“The impact of the event on Sunday saw an increase in footfall based on the year before with more than 17,400 visits recorded in the town centre, which is good news for local businesses.”
Jay Rowlinson, Chief Executive of Mansfield BID, said: “Thank you to our sponsors and supporters, we wouldn’t have been able to bring such a tremendous event to our town centre without your help.
“We are determined to improve our local economy and events play such an important part of our strategy to grow a vibrant town and put Mansfield on the map as a place to live work and visit.”
Jono Edwards added:
“Wow – what a day! Thank you so much to everyone who joined the party in the town centre, especially to the thousands that brought their best singing voices on such glorious fun-filled day.
“It was just great to bring this event back into the heart of Mansfield and to see so many having a ball. It was a fantastic day overall and as ever, we are proud to have been part of it. Well done Mansfield, when it comes to community spirit, you never let us down!”
The main stage was sponsored by A Woodland and Son Flooring Specialists and the show hosts were sponsored by Toffee Hut.
This event marked the continued programme of grant funded activities happening in and around Mansfield. This includes the return of the Armed Forces Day celebration, and Mansfield Carnival in June. To learn more about all events happening in the district visit www.mansfield.gov.uk/whatson.
