Three arrested in connection with Bingham burglary

Three teenagers are in custody this morning in connection with a house burglary where an elderly woman had her purse stolen.

The victim reported the incident at 6am on Wednesday after she noticed that a watch and her house keys were also taken overnight in Carnarvon Place in Bingham between 9pm and 5.30am.

Police officers located a man and two boys and arrested them on suspicion of a house burglary.

They were also arrested for an attempted house burglary on Tuesday evening in Grove Road in Bingham where a door was damaged and a theft of a number plate in Market Place in Bingham.

The suspects were detained in Sidney Street in Grantham on Thursday (3 June) after a stolen number plate was spotted on a car by eagle-eyed officers.

Detective Sergeant Gary Hewson of Nottinghamshire Police is leading the investigation. He said: “This must have been a terrifying experience for the victims involved. It’s believed the offenders entered the house via an open downstairs windows and taken her belongings.

“Meanwhile the previous evening it was reported that a group of boys also tried to enter a house in Bingham, but were unsuccessful.

“Burglary is a very serious offence and we will always thoroughly investigate reports with a view to taking appropriate action against offenders.

“We are pleased to have arrested a man and two boys aged 18, 16 and 15 and we still urge people to call in with any information to help with our continued enquiries.

“If you saw anything suspicious in Bingham on Monday and Tuesday evening to contact the force. If you have any information or dash cam footage please call 101.”
