Three charged after alleged stabbing in Nottingham

Police have charged three people following reports of a stabbing.

Officers were called to reports that a group of men with a machete had damaged a car in Roman Drive, Basford, just before 7.40pm on Monday (10 January 2022).

Shortly after it was reported that a man had been stabbed in the back in Stoneycroft Road, Basford. He received medical treatment for his injury, but it is not considered to be life-threatening or altering.

Nine people were arrested and overnight three people have since been charged.

Barraket Selassie, 21, of Beaconsfield Street, Hyson Green, and a 16-year-old boy, who can’t be named for legal reasons, have been charged with possession of a bladed article.

Another boy, aged 17, was charged with possession of a class B drug after officers recovered a quantity of suspected cannabis.

Four other boys aged 16, 17, 17 and 17, as well as two men, aged 19 and 22 have since been released on conditional bail after being arrested on suspicion of public order and weapons offences.

Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers’ quick work meant that swift arrests were made following reports of this incident and we have now charged three people in connection with what happened. Our investigation is ongoing.”
