Three men have spent the night in custody after a delivery driver was assaulted and a large amount of cash found inside a car.
After receiving a report of a fight outside a restaurant in Hucknall Road, Sherwood, Nottingham on Sunday night (17 July) officers quickly caught up with a car travelling into Radford.
Following a search of the car and its three occupants being questioned, the response PCs found a large amount of cash and clothes covered in cannabis leaves.
A closer look also found a video had been playing on the central console of the car while it was being driven.
The victim of the attack, which took place just before 8pm, was left with cuts and bruises to his face and hands.
A man, aged 25, was arrested on suspicion of affray, criminal damage, cultivation of cannabis, driving without insurance, and use or possession of criminal property.
A further 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray, criminal damage, driving without insurance, use or possession of criminal property, cultivation of cannabis, use of a mobile phone while driving, and driving without a seatbelt.
A 36-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of affray, criminal damage, assault with intent to resist arrest, and cultivation of cannabis.
All three men remain in custody while inquiries continue.
PC Simon Pembleton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was an opportunistic attack on an innocent man who was simply going about his job.
“Thankfully the delivery driver wasn’t seriously hurt but this will no doubt have also affected him emotionally.
“We’re still investigating exactly what happened here and the items that were found inside the car but I want to thank the multiple members of the public who called in the incident and reported it to us so we could respond quickly.
