The collisions happened at the junction of Stamford Road and Trevor Road.
Worried residents contacted us over the past few days to report three separate road collisions in the same location. Concerns are that vehicles in most cases has also mounted the pavements causing a serious risk to any pedestrians that may be in the area at the time.
One incident around the 9 October ( below )
After resurfacing work on the roads approximately four weeks ago, residents became extremely concerned that white ‘Stop’ lines which had not been repainted since the work was done may be causing confusion for drivers who don’t know the junction.
Another collision on 13 October ( below )
One resident told us: ‘The council resurfaced Stamford Rd some weeks ago (at least 4 at a guess) and have yet to repaint the junction leading to drivers missing the stop sign and going straight over the Trevor Rd junction at speed.
‘The exact same thing has happened 3 times.’
We can’t be sure of the date of the third incident.
We contacted Nottinghamshire Police who said that this incident ( below ) resulted in two people sustaining minor injuries.
On approach to the junction from both sides – a red and white mandatory STOP sign is in place, but this should be accompanied by a white STOP word and lines at the junction too.
This requirement was missing from one side of the junction. Though it has always been a dangerous road and accidents have occurred in the past, three in eight days or so is worrying.

We contacted Nottinghamshire Police who, at the time, only have details of one incident, it may be the others were not reported to them because motorists dealt with it and left the scene. If they have more details we’ll update everyone.

We then contacted Nottinghamshire County Council ( VIA East Midlands ) to explain the problem and ask for something to be done.
Yesterday evening a road sign was erected ( below ) to warn drivers there were no road markings.
This morning 14 October engineers arrived and painted the white lines and word back onto the road.
Via East Midlands have been invited to comment and we’ll add and update when received.
A resident said:
‘The council are due to resurface the other side of the road (between Melton and Trevor) in coming weeks. I only hope that this time the council are clear on how they will avoid such a dangerous situation being repeated.”
