The fencing caused major issues for residents after being installed and blocking a footpath and byway.
Cllr Richard Butler, Nottinghamshire County Cllr for Cotgrave Division including Tollerton told The Wire:
‘Yesterday I started to receive emails and phone calls from residents of Tollerton, telling me that a fence had been put across a popular public path.
‘It had been put up by contractors working for the owners of Tollerton Airfield, who were fencing their boundaries.
‘After a great deal of to-ing and fro-ing with Nottinghamshire County Council Rights of Way and Rushcliffe Borough Council, the offending fence has been removed.
‘Contractors had made a mistake and the owners have apologised.’
On Thursday, 24 July, contractors installed fencing across the footpath, blocking access off Tollerton Lane. When approached by parish councillors, the contractors stated they were ‘acting on behalf of the Vistry Group’ councillors have said.
