Toot Hill School would like to congratulate each and every one of its Year 11 students on their GCSE results and their hard work in the run-up to the exams.
After beginning their Key Stage 4 education in the middle of a global pandemic and having to undertake their studies throughout national lockdowns, remote learning and home isolations, the class of 2022 have today received the results of their efforts.
The school has once again achieved exceptionally strong outcomes this year across all measures, with over 20% of students securing a grade 7 and above in both English and Maths and almost 70% of students securing a strong pass (grade 5) in both English and Maths, enabling them to progress to their preferred pathway.
Chris Eardley, Head Teacher, said:
“I am delighted to report that our Year 11 students have achieved the superb GCSE and Vocational results they deserve this summer.”
“I am incredibly proud of the work and achievements of all our students who have secured the most aspirational destinations, especially following the challenges provided by the pandemic.”
“I am delighted that the majority of the Year 11 students will be staying with us as part of the Sixth Form College next year.”
“There are too many success stories to mention, particularly when considering the challenging personal experiences of many families during recent years. However, at least seven of our students secured eight or more GCSEs at grade 9.”
Sandy Paley, Executive Head Teacher, added: “GCSE results reflect a five-year whole school journey.
“They are achieved by hard-working students who learn in partnership with expert teachers and tutors, and are wholly supported by parents and carers.
“It is this combined effort that should be celebrated today.”
Special mention should go to Phoebe Clayton, Louis Cross and Maisie Pollard, who all achieved ten GCSEs at grade 9.
The school wishes all its students every success with the next stage of their educational journey, whether they are staying on at Toot Hill Sixth Form College or undertaking their post-16 studies elsewhere.
