Almost 100,000 more passengers flew through East Midlands Airport (EMA) this September than last year, underlining the growing popularity of the region’s convenient gateway to Europe.
More than 464,000 holidaymakers chose EMA last month, up 25% from 371,000 in 2022. This brings total passenger numbers at the airport so far this year to 2.7m.
The figures show EMA edging ever closer to a full recovery from the pandemic and cementing its reputation as a popular airport for those seeking ease and convenience.
The top ten destinations for passengers flying from East Midlands Airport in September were Alicante, Tenerife, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga, Faro, Arrecife, Dublin, Barcelona, Fuerteventura and Las Palmas.
The number of people looking for autumn and winter breaks is also growing. EMA is set to welcome a further 620,000 passengers between September and December this year. As well as serving many winter sun destinations, trips for festivals such as Oktoberfest and Christmas Markets are also within easy reach of
