Top picks for Nottinghamshire Easter holiday – plus what’s on at your library

You’re sure to have a cracking time with an array of family-friendly events across the county taking place throughout the Easter school holidays.

Across Nottinghamshire, country parks are springing into action with eggs-tra special Easter trails. Find the ginormous eggs hidden in Sherwood Forest and see if you can work out from the clues which bird has laid which egg.

Over at Rufford Country Park, you’ll be tasked with searching finding all the eggs that the troublesome bunnies have hidden to receive a very special prize! Trail activity sheets for both at £2.50 and can be purchased on the day.

Plus, check listing to try your hand at archery, hear tales of Robin Hood and his Merry Men, or visit the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont for the return of their Lagoon Wipeout.

Notts Outdoors will be hosting a holiday club, which features a whole week of adventurous activities including kayaking, canoeing, climbing, shelter building and more. Spaces are limited and booking is essential– so hop to it!

Be sure to drop into your local library, whether it is to experience a fun family event or pick up a seasonal story to put a spring in your step. With fiction and non-fiction inspired by spring, and picture books all about the Easter bunny, your local library has something special for you – see recommendations of adult titles and children’s stories. Plus, you could enjoy family theatre, crafty afternoons and scavenger hunts.

Councillor John Cottee, Chairman of the Communities Committee, said:

“What a wonderful time of year to be in Nottinghamshire! I hope you will join me in visiting our country parks as they are beginning to bloom, the perfect places to enjoy better weather and brighter evenings, as well as taking the opportunity to visit our wonderful local libraries.

Throughout the Easter holidays, there is so much for children and families to enjoy. Whether you’re an outdoor adventurer or prefer indoor experiences, there is something for you lined up. Connect with our legendary Robin Hood history with archery and story tours at Sherwood Forest, and don’t miss beautiful Rufford Country Park’s Easter attractions.

I hope you will be able to make the most of the holidays, and enjoy the best of what Notts has to offer this Easter.”
