‘There is flooding at Newton-Le-Willows, which is between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Piccadilly. At present Network Rail are on site trying to remove the water, however due to heavy rain we expect disruption to last throughout the evening.

‘Unfortunately our train crews have been displaced by the disruption, and this will also have an impact on Nottingham – Worksop services this evening.’

‘The line is currently open, however there is a speed restriction in place in the flooded area and this is causing severe delays and congestion.

‘All of our trains on this route are being delayed up to 60 minutes in either direction, and there may be short-notice alterations and cancellations.

At present we do not know when the line will fully reopen.

Due to this disruption, crew have been displaced which means other services have been cancelled:

15:26 Nottingham – Worksop
16:38 Worksop – Nottingham
