Nottingham Express Transit tram services have been disrupted all day today Saturday 25 February because of a system failure and broken down trams.
From around 10 am this morning the tram service across the city has been disrupted.
NET said a ‘whole system’ failure was causing no service at all from around 10:30 am.
Buses and trains started accepting passengers’ tickets for travel around the city networks and up to Hucknall and Beeston.
By 11:17 am trams were running now between Hucknall to Royal Centre and Phoenix Park to Royal Centre. Trams were running between Toton Lane to NG2, but there were no trams from Clifton South to city or NG2 to the city.
At 3:35 pm NET said: ‘Trams only running between Hucknall and Phoenix Park to Royal Centre and between Toton Lane to NG2. No Trams from Clifton South to town or NG2 to town. NCT buses Navy, Yellow and Orange lines are accepting our tickets and passes.’
Nottingham City Transport said at 3:54 pm:
Due to a broken down tram on Market Street, the following services are diverted away from Nottingham; Green 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, Orange 34, 35, 36 and Navy 49. Services will use Parliament Street, Maid Marian Way and Friar Lane in order to reach their Angel Row stops.

‘Nottingham City Transport buses Navy, Yellow and Orange lines are accepting our tickets and passes. This is due to an overhead line fault and it will be the same all evening until the end of the service.’
Engineers used one tram to attempt to tow the broken down tram out of the area and back to base, they pulled the stricken vehucle up towards Angel Row from Old market Squsre stop, stopped at the signals, and then couldn’t get moving again.
We’ll post a video of the incident later…
