A plaque has been installed at the tree planted by Christine Stone at Stockhill in her memory.
The tree can be found on the grounds of the fire station and was planted by Christine as her gift to Stockhill Fire Station when she retired in 2011.
When Christine sadly passed away on Saturday 3 June 2023, her former colleagues and friends wanted to do something special to remember her and mark the connection she has with the station.
Christine worked for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service for many decades, serving as a Fire Prevention Administrator at Central Fire Station and had previously worked at City Fire Brigade HQ at Central back in the day.
On transferring and serving at Stockhill Fire Station as District Administrator in 1999, she was most valued and respected by the crews at Stockhill where she made quite an impression, as for several years after she retired in 2011 her photograph hung in the General Office.
Christine was ‘one of a kind’ practical, down to earth and always there to help. A true friend who will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. In true Christine style, she bore her illness with no fuss and was brave until the end.
