Two arrested after alleged sexual assault and fight in Beeston

Two people have been arrested after police were called to reports of a fight.

A man is believed to have been punched and threatened during the incident in Boundary Crescent, Beeston, and officers were quickly at the scene.

Two men, aged 18 and 47, were subsequently arrested on suspicion of affray following the incident, which happened at around 2.20pm on Monday (3 January 2022).

The 47-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of sexual assault in relation to a separate incident which took place in Alderman Close, Beeston, shortly before.

Detective Sergeant Adam Taylor, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were quick to respond to reports that a fight was happening and occurrences like this will always elicit a swift police response.

“This behaviour reported is absolutely unacceptable and two men were swiftly taken into custody.

“Reports of a sexual assault were also made to officers on arrival and as a result we have launched an investigation. A man was also arrested in connection with these allegations.

“The impact of such incidents on victims can be absolutely devastating and we are committed to investigating and working to determine the circumstances behind the incident, as well as working proactively with officers to prevent this.

“We would like to reassure the public that we believe those thought to be involved are known to each other and that there is no wider risk to the public.

“Our enquiries into both incidents continue and we would urge anyone with information to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 298 of 3 January 2022.”
