Two charged after fatal road traffic collision in 2022

It is reported that a vehicle was involved in a collision with two pedestrians and that the vehicle failed to stop and left the scene.

Two people have been charged following the death of a woman in Bawtry in 2022.

Shortly after midnight on 24 July 2022, emergency services were called to the A638 High Street, Bawtry, following reports of a collision.

Police said:

‘A 30-year-old woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene, and a 33-year-old woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

‘Matthew Harris, 36, of Burcroft Hill, Conisbrough, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by driving whilst unlicensed or uninsured.

‘Meryl Chambers, 51, of Burcroft Hill, Conisbrough, has been charged with aiding and abetting death by driving whilst unlicensed or uninsured.

‘They are both due to appear at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court on 7 January 2025.’
