Two charged after stabbing outside Nottingham College

Police have charged two teenagers after a fight broke out near a college.

Emergency services were called to Canal Street, Nottingham, shortly after 11.30 am on Thursday (2 February 2023) following reports of an altercation involving a small group of youths near the front entrance of Nottingham College.

A 16-year-old was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre with a knife wound and has since been discharged.

Two other males were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Detectives working on the investigation have now charged two suspects as their inquiries continue.

Ayo Ajayi, aged 18, of Osman Close, The Meadows, and a 17-year-old boy, who can’t be named for legal reasons, have been charged with affray and possession of a bladed article/sharply pointed article.

Both suspects are due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (Saturday 4 February 2023).

A 16-year-old boy, who was arrested on suspicion of affray, remains in custody.

Detective Sergeant Steve Dalby, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Preventing and driving down incidents of knife crime and violence in our communities is an issue the force treats as an absolute priority and with the utmost seriousness.

“While two people will now be put before the courts in connection with this incident our investigation remains ongoing, and we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the area at the time and who has information that could assist us with our inquiries.”
