Two consignments of animal medicines seized at East Midlands Airport

A package containing animal supplements was identified by a courier company based at a depot in East Midlands Airport.  

The package arrived from Canada containing products destined for a business address in Cheshire.

The product was detained and subsequently seized by a VMD inspector.

The following products were seized:

  • 4 x 125ml bottles of Turkey Tail Mushroom for dogs (Adored Beast)
  • 1 x 125ml bottle of Chaga Mushroom for dogs (Adored Beast)

These products were intended for use in dogs and indicated for the treatment or prevention of disease. The product labelling is not compliant with the requirements of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013 (as amended) as it presents the products as medicines.

The medicines were seized under Regulation 25 (Importation of unauthorised veterinary medicinal products) of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013 (as amended).

 

A package containing pet supplements was identified by a courier company based at a depot in East Midlands Airport.

The package arrived from Latvia containing supplements destined for an Amazon Warehouse in the West Midlands.

The products were detained and subsequently seized by an inspector.

The following products were seized:

  • 180 tubs X GIGI Vet Cardio Pet N30
  • 120 tubs X GIGI Vet Puppy Growth & Health N90
  • 108 tubs X GIGI Vet Puppy Growth & Health N220

These products were intended for use in companion animals and indicated for the treatment or prevention of disease. The product labelling is not compliant with the requirements of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013 (as amended) as it presents the products as a medicine.

The medicines were seized under Regulation 25 (Importation of unauthorised veterinary medicinal products) of the Veterinary Medicines Regulations 2013 (as amended).
