Two cannabis farmers were caught red-handed with more than a thousand plants when officers raided a property.
Four rooms inside a New Basford-based building were found to have been converted into growing areas and packed full of Class B drugs.
A total of 1,248 cannabis plants were ultimately seized from within the property in High Church Street when it was visited by police on 17 February this year.
Electricity was also found to have been dangerously bypassed across the address, with officers making another significant discovery after catching and arresting growers Klevis Bicaku and Sadri Seeaj in one of the rooms.
The duo, both of High Church Street, would go on to plead guilty to producing cannabis during their first court appearance two days later (19 February).
Bicaku, 24, and 21-year-old Seeaj appeared before Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday (16 April), where they were both sentenced to 16 months in prison.
Detective Sergeant Paul Crofts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“We don’t want to see any kind of drug activity operating in Nottinghamshire.
“That includes people like Klevis Bicaku and Sadri Seeaj who tend to cannabis grows within our communities.
“As they’re both now finding out to their cost, becoming involved in this behaviour is not acceptable and will lead to time spent in prison.
“Cannabis production is far from a victimless crime, with this illicit practice often having links to wider criminality and the exploitation of others.
“We clearly don’t want to see this happen, so we’d implore anyone who has any suspicions that a cannabis grow could be operating near to where they live to please report this to us on 101, so that we can shut it down.”
