Two men arrested and charged after victim hospitalised with slash wounds

Two men aged 34 and 37 have been arrested and charged after a man had to be taken to hospital for treatment after being slashed with a knife inside his own home.

The serious assault was reported to police on 21 August where a masked offender entered a house in Esther Varney Place in Newark and attacked the victim with a knife.

The victim suffered a deep wound to his torso and had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Sergeant Ricky Ellis is leading the investigation. He said: “The victim is lucky his injuries aren’t as serious as first anticipated. He had treatment at Queen’s Medical Centre, but has since been discharged.

“Officers were quickly on the scene to start their investigation. Both men were arrested yesterday and they have since been charged.

“This must have been a terrifying experience for the victim and those in the house at the time.

“We believe this is an isolated incident, with no danger to the rest of the community.”

Daniel Pegg of Wolsey Road, Newark and Liam Nichols of Wilkins Gardens, Nottingham have both been charged with conspiracy to commit GBH and are appearing at Nottingham Magistrates Court this morning.
