Two men found unconscious in Nottingham city centre after serious assault

One is reported to have regained consciousness and is recovering whilst other remains in hospital for treatment of a head injury.

Officers located and arrested suspects after they came across two unconscious men in the street.

Officers were flagged down in Market Street, Nottingham city centre after reports that a group of men had assaulted two others just after 4.30am this morning.

The two men, aged 41 and 42, were taken to hospital.

One is reported to have regained consciousness and is recovering whilst other remains in hospital for treatment of a head injury.

The seriousness of his injuries is yet to be determined.

A scene is in place whilst officers continue their investigation.

Three men, aged 18, 19 and 22 were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remain in custody.

Detective Sergeant Lee Cattell, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Two men have been left needing hospital treatment after this awful assault.

“Officers remain on scene and are conducting thorough enquiries to understand the circumstances around this. When we receive reports like this, it will always elicit a swift police response and as such three men were arrested within minutes of the reported attack.

“Local officers will also be in the area providing reassurance and are there to talk to anyone with concerns or information.

“We would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has any further information to get in touch on 101, quoting incident 131 of 28 August 2021.”
