Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust announced the sad news this afternoon.
Dr Keith Girling, Medical Director for Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust said:
“Sadly, we can confirm that a further two patients who were being cared for at our hospitals have died. Both patients had tested positive for COVID-19.”
“The fourth patient, 75, had an underlying health condition and died on Tuesday 3 March. The positive test results were returned on Monday 16 March. Her family has subsequently been informed.”
“The fifth patient, 67, also had an underlying health condition, died on Wednesday 18 March. His family has been informed.”
“Our thoughts and condolences go out to both families at this difficult and distressing time.”
“We continue to follow all of the appropriate infection control guidance to provide safe and effective care to our patients. Patients with appointments should still attend as normal unless they have a new and continuous cough or a temperature in which case they should contact the telephone number on their appointment letter for further advice.”
