Sergeant Che Sands, of the Rushcliffe North Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

“Many people think that shoplifting isn’t a priority; however, retailers often increase prices to cover the losses from theft, which means we all end up paying more.

“High crime rates can make areas less attractive and deter shoppers, thereby impacting local businesses and the community’s social fabric.

“Investigations and proactive patrols will continue in retail areas to hopefully deter those intending to steal. Neighbourhood Policing Teams have previously obtained Criminal Behaviour Orders for the individuals concerned, which increases the courts’ sentencing powers whenever these orders are breached. Here in Rushcliffe and across Nottinghamshire, we will not tolerate persistent offending behaviour.”

Anyone who can assist with an investigation should call the police on 101 or 999 in an emergency. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
