Crews from Stockhill and Arnold Fire Station attended a house fire in Top Valley Nottingham yesterday (14 November 2024), where two occupants of a semi-detached property required rescuing from an upstairs bedroom.
They were alerted to the fire by their working smoke alarm and called for assistance.
Fire survival guidance was given to the occupants by joint fire control room operators until the crew arrived.
Once in attendance, crews accessed the bedroom from outside the property using a nine-metre ladder, enabling the occupants to leave the property, while two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the ground floor to extinguish the fire.
The occupants received first aid from firefighters at the scene until the ambulance service arrived.
Station Manager Stan Copson stated: “This morning’s incident demonstrated the importance of having a working smoke alarm on each level of your property. Please test your smoke alarms and replace them every 10 years as they can save your life.
“Joint Fire Control was able to give valuable fire survival guidance to the occupants and informed the attending fire crews of their location within the property.
“This information enabled fire crews to implement immediate firefighting actions to rescue the occupants and resolve the incident.”
