Two separate attacks in Nottingham city centre overnight – two in hospital, one seriously injured

Two men were taken to hospital following two separate attacks in Nottingham city centre.

Police were called out to an incident in Upper Parliament Street, Nottingham city centre, where a man had reportedly been punched, falling to the ground.

He became unconscious and was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a serious condition.

Officers attended following the call at around 3.35am on Saturday morning (March 5).

Later the same morning, police were called to a separate, and unrelated, incident in Clumber Street where a fight left a man needing hospital treatment.

A 23-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident, which happened just before 4.45am. The man arrested remains in police custody.

The man attacked continues to receive treatment in hospital as recovers from the incident.

Detective Inspector Luke Todd, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Two men were left needing hospital treatment following these separate incidents in the city centre, with one in a serious condition.

“This behaviour is unacceptable and officers were very quick to respond in both cases.

“We do believe, however, that in both incidents an altercation occurred in the moments leading up to them.

“However, officers remain in the area to offer reassurance to the public and scenes remain in place as officers conduct enquiries.

“A man has also been arrested in connection with the Clumber Street incident and we continue to make enquiries relating to the Upper Parliament Street incident.

“We would now ask anyone who witnessed the incident in Upper Parliament Street, or has any information or dash-cam footage to come forward, by calling 101, quoting incident 130 of March 5, 2022.”
