Two serving British Transport Police officers have been charged by way of summons following an incident at Derby station on 28 May last year.
PC John Severns who is based in Nottingham and PC Andrew Spiby who is based in Derby, were each charged with one count of common assault.
They will appear before Derby Magistrates’ court on 15 January. The charges relate to allegations regarding the use of force when detaining a man.
The charges follow an independent investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct and subsequent referral to the Crown Prosecution Service
Both officers have been placed on restricted duties while the investigation continues.
