Two women in court as officers investigate theft of car

Two women who were arrested after a police car was hit by a stolen car have appeared in court.

The vehicle was taken during a car key burglary in Balmoral Road, Forest Fields, overnight on Saturday.

A police car was subsequently damaged as officers – responding to a hit on an automatic number plate recognition camera – tracked it down and boxed it in Osbourne Street on Sunday afternoon.

A 42-year-old woman from Radford has been charged with drink-driving, driving while disqualified and failing to stop for police. She appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday and was released on bail. She will next appear in court on July 23.

A 41-year-old woman from Radford appeared in court on the same day and pleaded guilty to three counts of fraud by misrepresentation in relation to the use of a bank card belonging to the victim. She was given a six-month community order, a drug rehabilitation order and ordered to pay compensation.

A 49-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested during a police raid this morning (Wednesday) in connection with the original car theft.

They remain in custody and investigations are ongoing.

Two other people, a man and a woman both aged 39, were are also arrested in the same raid on suspicion of failing to appear in court for other offences.

Detective Sergeant James Bond, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We were very pleased to have recovered the vehicle and brought charges in this case so quickly. Now we are focussed on understanding exactly what happened in the events leading up to this incident and ensuring that all of those involved are brought to justice.”
