Testing

Testing is where we do a test to see who has coronavirus. Some people are tested more than once.

There were 1,085,999 tests reported on 9 June 2021. This shows an increase of 22.1% compared to the previous 7 days.

Between 3 June 2021 and 9 June 2021, there have been 5,949,595 tests.

Cases

A confirmed case is someone who has tested positive for coronavirus.

7,393 new people had a confirmed positive test result reported on 10 June 2021.

Between 4 June 2021 and 10 June 2021, 44,008 people had a confirmed positive test result. This shows an increase of 63.2% compared to the previous 7 days.

Vaccinations

Vaccines are currently given in 2 doses, at least 21 days apart.

40,886,878 people had been given a first dose by the end of 9 June 2021.

28,857,102 people had been given a second dose by the end of 9 June 2021.

Healthcare

Some people with coronavirus have to go into hospital.

153 people with coronavirus went into hospital on 6 June 2021.

Between 31 May 2021 and 6 June 2021, 925 went into hospital with coronavirus. This shows an increase of 7.1% compared to the previous 7 days.

There were 1,048 patients in hospital with coronavirus on 8 June 2021.

Some people in the hospital need to use a special device called a mechanical ventilator to help them breathe.

There were 158 coronavirus patients in hospital beds with a mechanical ventilator on 9 June 2021.

Deaths

There were 7 deaths within 28 days of a positive test for coronavirus reported on 10 June 2021.

Between 4 June 2021 and 10 June 2021, there have been 55 deaths within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. This shows an increase of 1.9% compared to the previous 7 days.
